I have always been fascinated with politics, and now becoming
of age I am seeking an experience of the system. Over the past years
I have taken significantly more time to understand bills,
candidates, and the legislative system than I ever have before.
Working away from the preconceptions I was raised with, I have
learned to look at issues from both private and public perspectives.
Presenting before audiences at my school, and my historically
charismatic character have has led me to believe that I could become
a successful politician myself.
Summer 2006 I raised funds for and joined a philanthropic trip
to Guatemala. For the first five days of this trip my peers and I
stayed in an orphanage living, sleeping, eating, and working side by
side with the orphans. Traveling across Guatemala and seeing the
many different regions and cities, I gained an entirely new
appreciation for the United States (although I like the weather
better down there.). I realized that it is only with leadership and
public service that our country is so beautiful.
Guatemala City was like a war ruin, for miles and miles, a
ghetto with no middle class in sight. My mind immediately went to
economics. As our buss passed through the districts I couldn’t help
but notice that on a single business strip only two of five
businesses were actually open and functioning. I imagined Sacramento
in the same situation, and became infuriated. Yet, Guatemala still
had something very significant to teach me. Gazing out the window
one would have to be blind not to notice the politics at work. Every
corner, every barn, every boulder, was draped in or spray painted
with propaganda. Especially Particularly noticeable whereas the
large number of political parties existent there. I learned there
the potential of the people, and hoped that the U.S. would never
have to be in such dire straights to take their politics as
seriously.
Public service has always been appealing to me, and I firmly
believe in being directly responsible to the people you serve. I am
not easily convinced and have learned to always read the fine print.
I am a fantastic public speaker, who’s thoughts are always organized
enough to swing a debate or write a solid speech. My passion for
politics also keeps me attentive during paper work procedures and or
paper work/procedures that others may find dull or meaningless.
Working with my family I have been a receptionist at The Way
Within Spa for two years, mastering the art of listening, analyzing
and convincing. I have managed a team of therapists, and persuaded
customers into costly purchases both over the phone in person and in
person over the phone. My work experience, especially under the
careful eye of my mother and my manager, has fine tuned my abilities
and organizational skills. I remain strong and honorable when
handling unhappy clients, knowing when a mistake is my own and how
to make amends when necessary.
My goal is to someday become a responsible representative
myself, and be able to return my blessings to my community. I know
the extent of my knowledge, and to properly serve any community I
know I must always learn more. |
Goals:
-
To become successful in either
Politics or Music.
-
To make a good life for my children.
-
To return my blessing to my community.
